“Private browsing”*3 enables users to browse websites without allowing the browser to save cookies, which are used to store identity and configuration information of the user, and the users’ browsing history. This feature allows users to use services without being traced continuously.
When the “private browsing” feature is on, the browser assigns new and different browser and user identifiers each time the browser is activated, preventing long-term tracing. However, information such as the browsing history of web pages accessed from the browser and the user’s IP address will be stored in the server.
If you have set opt-out preferences while using this feature, your preferences may be lost since the cookies that have stored your preferences will be deleted when you finish your browsing session. If you wish to opt out on a continuous basis, check that the “private browsing” feature is off when you set your preferences. Furthermore, be aware that your opt-out preferences will not be valid when you are using the “private browsing” feature.
*3 “Private browsing” is also called “InPrivate browsing” or “secret window”, depending on your browser.
